Operation Grabber Phase 1 Mission 2

    Execute: 1800EST 16MAR25

    Task Organization: 10th Ranger Regiment

    Subsets: NEPTUNE, TF APOLLO

    1. Situation
      1. Area of Interest - AO Abduct
        1. Terrain
          1. Obstacles & Fields of Fire.
          2. AO Abduct is a wooded area with a single paved MSR running north to south and a myriad of forest tracks. Ground clutter is limited due to the winter environment. The AO is relatively hilly with wide, but cluttered, fields of fire offered.
          3. Avenues of Approach.
          4. Multiple clearings dot the AO offering an advance from any direction via helicopter insertion. Ground movement may be hampered by ODAs that litter the area.
          5. Key Terrain.
          6. A moderately sized village and lake are the key terrain features that divide up the AO as well as the North/South MSR.
    2. Cover and Concealment.
    3. Rocks and Forested terrain offer decent cover and concealment as well as hills providing fields of dead ground.
    4. Weather.
    5. Clear. Cold.
    6. Time and Light Conditions.
    7. TBD
    8. Enemy Forces.
      1. Size.
      2. Expecting Enemy Company Sized Light Infantry Rebel Forces augmented by a platoon of M113s.
      3. Capabilities.
      4. Primarily light infantry with NO NVG or MANPAD capability. No Mines are expected, but IEDs or Traps are possible on MSRs as reported by Finnish units.
      5. Recent Activity.
      6. They have conducted a series of ambushes during a route clearing action by the Finnish engineers. Attacks in other sectors drew security forces away and allowed for the ambush. It is believed they have taken up to 18 POWs. Air based CAS entered the AO in order to relieve the troops after the ambush but failed to arrive in time. This has led Finnish intel to believe enemy forces are staying near ambush sites until better weather for maneuver.
      7. Expected Course of Action.
      8. Rebel forces are expected to be operating close to the ambush sites but have spread out to occupy most of the AO. Foot patrols are common and the main enemy force may have dispersed or dug into key positions awaiting clear movement conditions where Aviation cannot track their retreat.
    9. Friendly Forces
      1. Higher Units.
      2. Karelia Brigade - Commanding.
      3. Adjacent Units.
      4. Karelia Brigade has occupied previous terrain and is currently trying to complete an intel picture of enemy positions ahead of it prior to planned push deeper into rebel territory.
      5. Supporting Units. 432d Wing (USAF) Drone Support.
    10. Civilian Considerations. The Moderately sized village has been reported empty of civilian activity by aviation assets. This is not confirmed by US sources. We have been asked to limit destruction of civil property.
    11. Attachments/Detachments.  NA
    12.  Mission.
